Bug House/Fun House Exteriors
(Chutes at the Beach - Demo)
Built in 1923, it was originally called the Bug House. Built by Looff and Friedle, it stood on the east Corner of Cabrillo and La Playa. Constructed AFTER the Big dipper, it seemed to be tucked undernear the coaster. Looff always wanted to conserve space! It's 5 story Slide extending up through the Big Dippers superstructure. You could feel and hear the coaster rounding the that corner if you were at the top of Slide.
The Bug House would looked very familiar to us. Many of the attractions were the same right till the end. The exterior went through a couple remodels and paint designs, but the Fun House was truly the last great Looff /Friedle attraction to survive to the bitter end.
In this photo gallery we are going to focus on the interior and exterior from a broad view. When we get into the Whitney Years, the photo gallery will focus more on the attractions inside.
