Introduction

 

My whole Playland adventure started for me as a child.... a child at Playland.  In my time, mid to late 60's, Playland had seen better times, much better times! But the magic was still alive! For all those I've talked to over the years, they can all tell you there was SOMETHING MAGICAL about Playland. It had some kind of mysterious joyous energy that we all absorbed?  Whatever it was, we can't explain it,  but it lives within us all to this day.   I can close my eyes and still smell the cotton candy, hot dogs, popcorn, Cinnamon Apple pies, Hot House Enchilada sauce and the lubricating grease from the amusement rides.... All mixed together!  Playland withstood the test of time and life's tribulations within my heart.  To reference Orson Wells 'Citizen Kane'.... Playland is my Rosebud.

This Playland web page is dedicated to our Playland memories. It's about Sharing the information and photos that have been shared with us.  Many of the photos are from Private Collections, the actual Photograpgher and/or Public collections. They can be divided in the following categores:

 

"Free Use" This means they are owned by a private collection or archive and we are free to use the photos as long as they are not reproduced for profit. This site is take no cash or donations, other than photos and information.

 

"Credited" When a collector or photographer or both can be found, they are given photo credit.

 

"Non-credited" These photos have been mass reproduced and can be found in MANY collections.

 

If you SHARE any of these photos, we ask that you give photo credit to the owner or photographer or THIS WEBSITE.  

 

We want to keep these photos available for all to see. Please respect the Photo Collectors, Photographers and this wen site, by giving them credit. 

 

If you find a PERSONAL uncredited photo on this site, please contact us for credit or removal.  There are many Playland Postcards and mass produced images. It's hard to give photo credit for a mass produced Postcards, Ad, Newspaper photos and the like, but a Rare, Personal photo or Postcard has more validity. ;-)

Below are two examples. "Glenn D. Koch" has added a water mark that cannot be removed or the next photo is a SMALL photo that can't be expanded or made any larger without losing resolution.
